Most website owners assume adding a agent means hiring a developer, configuring APIs, or spending days writing FAQ scripts. It doesn’t. Here’s how to go from zero to a working AI agent on your live site in under five minutes.
What you’ll need
- A Cassette account
- Your website’s URL
- Ability to add a
<script>tag to your site’s HTML (or access to your CMS theme settings)
That’s it.
Step 1: Sign up and create a agent
Go to app.cassettehq.com/signup and create a free account. Once you’re in, click New agent from the dashboard.
Give your agent a name — something like “Acme Support Bot” or “Pricing Assistant”. This name is internal; your visitors won’t see it unless you configure a custom welcome message later.
Step 2: Add your knowledge sources
This is where Cassette learns your website. Under the Knowledge Sources tab, paste the URLs you want the agent to know about.
Good sources to add first:
- Your homepage
- Your pricing page
- Your FAQ or support page
- Any product pages you want the bot to explain
For each URL you add, Cassette crawls the page, strips out navigation and ads, and extracts the actual content. Start with the pages visitors ask about most often.
You can also upload PDFs — useful for product manuals, rate cards, or admission brochures.
Wait for indexing to finish. It usually takes 5–15 seconds per URL. A green checkmark confirms each source is ready.
Step 3: Configure the widget (optional)
Under the Widget tab you can customise:
- Brand colour — match your site’s primary colour
- Position — bottom-right or bottom-left
- Welcome message — the first message visitors see when they open the chat
- Suggested questions — 2–3 nudges that help visitors know what to ask
Branding and widget presentation can be configured as part of your setup.
Step 4: Copy the embed script
Go to the Embed tab. You’ll see one line:

Step 5: Paste it on your website
Where you paste it depends on your platform:
WordPress: Go to Appearance → Theme Editor → footer.php (or use a plugin like Insert Headers and Footers) and paste the script just before </body>.
Webflow: Go to Project Settings → Custom Code → Footer Code and paste the script.
Shopify: Go to Online Store → Themes → Edit Code → theme.liquid and paste just before </body>.
Any custom HTML site: Paste just before </body> in your base template.
Once saved, reload your website. The chat bubble will appear in the corner. Click it — your agent is live.
What happens next

Common questions
What if a visitor asks something the bot doesn’t know? The bot will say it doesn’t have that information and suggest the visitor contact you directly. It will not make up an answer.
Can I have different bots for different pages?
Yes. You can create multiple agents, each with its own set of knowledge sources. A “Pricing Bot” scoped to your /pricing page, an “Admissions Bot” scoped to your /admissions section — each answers only from what you gave it.
What languages does it support? Language support depends on how your Cassette setup is configured. If multilingual support is important for your site, confirm that in onboarding before you go live.
